Description
This Health Occupations Stations Bundle includes a stations activity for health careers related to each body system plus a set of stations for Introduction to Healthcare. Each activity includes seven stations that students will rotate through as they learn about various aspects of health occupations, common diseases, treatments, procedures, and patient experiences.
Who is This Resource Designed For?
- This resource is suitable for high school Anatomy and Physiology students or Health Occupations students.
- Teaching Anatomy and Physiology? Your students can expand on what they’ve learned about body systems to better understand real-world healthcare experiences and disease treatment and learn about a variety of occupations in the healthcare field.
- Teaching Health Occupations? These stations provide an engaging way for students to see how healthcare workers provide care for patients, operate equipment, perform tests, and treat a variety of diseases and conditions.
Highlights of Health Occupations Stations:
- Each station will take approximately 5-7 minutes for students to complete.
- Colorful station cards and icons will help students quickly find their way through the stations and their place on the handout.
- Discussion and extension ideas are included for teachers who would like to go into more depth.
- An optional idea for students to keep all their station handouts organized in a medical-style folder.

What Stations are Included in Each Activity?
Each Health Occupation Stations activity (except for the Introduction set which is focused more on healthcare occupations and disease) is focused on one body system.
The stations are:
- Medical Experts – Students will learn about the education requirements, types of patients or diseases treated, working conditions, and salary of one selected physician specialty.
- Expedition into Allied Health Careers – This station will teach students about the training, duties, and salary of an allied health career.
- Explore other Careers in Healthcare – This station provides a look into a nursing career or a subspecialty or a unique career related to one of the careers at stations 1 or 2, or a nursing career.
- Execute a Procedure – Students will simulate a medical procedure or the operation of a medical device.
- Expand your Vocabulary – Students will explore root words, prefixes, suffixes, or abbreviations to become more familiar with medical terminology.
- Extraordinary Connections – At this station, students will discover the connections between body systems, comorbidities associated with certain conditions, or the relationships between body, mind, spirit, and emotions.
- Patient Example – This station provides an opportunity for students to follow a real-life example of a patient and their journey through a disease and/or the healthcare system.

Teacher Prep and Set-Up:
- Make copies of the student handout for each student.
- Print out the station information and instruction pages for each station.
- Print out and prepare the station table tents in color or black and white. These will work with all Health Occupation Stations activities, so you only have to do this once.
- Gather materials needed for the stations.
- On the day of the activity, divide students into 7 groups and let them go!
